SOLID is proud to announce that our client, Samer K. Shamieh, MD, has been recognized as a "National Leader" in
Becker's Spine Review's 35 Surgeons Under 40 to know. Congratulations Dr. Shamieh!
Dr. Shamieh completed his minimally invasive spine surgery fellowship at The Spine Institute of Arizona under Edward J. Dohring, MD. His area of expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery and he treats sports-related spine issues in addition to a variety of degenerative conditions and scoliosis. He was trained in artificial total disc replacement. Dr. Shamieh is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, as well as a member of the North American Spine Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Shamieh is a hometown boy who grew up in Louisiana, played tennis for the top-ranked LSU Tigers and received his medical degree/Orthopaedic training from LSU-Shreveport. He has been trained and licensed in Total Disc Replacements of the cervical and lumbar spines. He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Shamieh’s specializes in minimally invasive surgery for patients with spinal disorders including sciatica, herniated discs, neck or back pain, degenerative disc disease, stenosis, vertebral compression fractures, spinal trauma, sports related spine issues, spondylolisthesis and scoliosis.
The shift to the minimally invasive surgery means patients experience dramatically smaller incisions, less pain, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery.
“Many of the procedures I specialize in are still performed using traditional open surgery in other hospitals,” says Dr. Shamieh. “However, we can now offer patients these procedures and many others, with all the advantages of less-invasive surgery.”
Dr. Shamieh adds, “Less pain means less demand for narcotics, and reduced blood loss means fewer transfusions. And, unlike traditional open surgery, rehab is rarely needed after a minimally invasive procedure. All of these, in turn, reduce the cost of care for patients.”
